the winds of change are blowing texas way

i received the following press release from texas democratic party chairman, boyd richie.

RICHIE: AUSTIN TO HOST FALL DNC MEETING

Texas Democratic Party Chairman Boyd Richie issued the following statement regarding the selection of Austin, TX as the location for the fall Democratic National Committee meeting, September 10-12, 2009:

“The selection of Texas as the next meeting place for Democratic leaders from all over the country signifies that our hard work and success in the 2006 and 2008 elections have not gone unnoticed.

“As the Democratic Party of the most diverse and second-largest state in the country, we are very proud of the progress we've made and are strengthened by our prospects for even greater success. It's clear the DNC recognizes the potential role for Texas Democrats in our Party's long-term success nationally as well as for electoral gains here in Texas.

“With so much at stake in the 2010 elections, the Texas Democratic Party welcomes the opportunity to showcase our efforts to national Democratic Party leaders and attract investments in our work toward statewide success.”

now, i'm not fan of the dnc, dccc or dscc because they have historically completely written texas off as a viable player in the political process...apparently, someone's gotten the ear of the party inside the beltway and told them that there is a groundswell of grass roots activism that is turning this state from undeniably blood red to purple, with a lovely shade of blue coming to many areas of the state.
